Higher education institutions in Houston are now dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Harvey, in not only repairing campuses, but finding ways to support students who have been financially and emotionally affected by the natural disaster.
“A hurricane’s going to hurt financially, and it’s going to set people back,” one student from UH told the Houston Chronicle.

An estimated 500,000 students are enrolled in schools located in the affected region.
“We expect some impact (to graduation rates), but exactly what it will be, we don’t know,” said Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Commissioner Raymund Paredes.
