Major surveys in the U.S. have identified that loneliness is a major issue among millennials, with 29% reporting that they always feel lonely, and 27 percent reporting that they don’t have close friends in one small survey.
The survey revealed that men are more likely to often feel lonely more than women.
Similarly, in the Cigna 2020 survey that involved 10,000 American adults, 70 percent of young adults reported feeling lonely, while “the figures were much lower among older adults,” according to Psychology Today News. This survey also found that men tend to be lonelier than women.
Social media and the changing structures of family life are two main factors driving loneliness in young adults, according to the study.
