The Human Rights Watch organization called for a deeper commitment and investment by governments around the world to make education accessible for all children.
There is a decade left for governments to meet their pledges to provide quality primary and secondary education for all children, according to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. That includes pledges to help women and girls have access to the same opportunities as boys and to eliminate discrimination that prevents anyone from obtaining an education.
Human Rights Watch research shows that many governments continue to implement policies that exclude large groups of children from public schools. Many governments also have not taken enough measures, or invested adequately, to ensure schools are safe, inclusive, and responsive to children’s learning needs,” writes Human Rights Watch in a public statement.
