When it comes to higher education, some states have decreased their per capita college funding, despite an economy that has been growing.
In a recent analysis, the states that have cut the most per capita funding in recent years include Alaska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Kentucky. Meanwhile the states have invested more over the years are: Hawaii, California, Utah, Tennessee and Washington.
“Most states are not even maintaining consistent funding levels relative to the income collected by their residents – in the prosperous economy of the past six plus years, a shocking 37 of the 50 states have cut higher education funding as a share of their residents’ incomes,” reports Forbes.
