America’s student loan system is “fundamentally broken” says A. Wayne Johnson, a student loan official who announced that he will be resigning from his position in the administration.
He was appointed to office as the COO of the Office of Federal Student Aid and then changed roles to launch a redesign of how loan providers and borrowers work.
He has called for an end to student debt and making students take on these types of burdens in their lifetimes.
“We run through the process of putting this debt burden on somebody…but it rides on their credit files—it rides on their back—for decades,” he said, according to Wall Street Journal.
“The time has come for us to end and stop the insanity.”
