A new study was able to identify genetic differences associated with left-handed traits, and brain structures are different with left handed people having better verbal skills.
Scientists at the University of Oxford published the study in the journal Brain, and suggested that there could be “superior” genes at work when it comes to left-handed people and their verbal skills.
“This raises the intriguing possibility for future research that left-handers might have an advantage when it comes to performing verbal tasks, but it must be remembered that these differences were only seen as averages over very large numbers of people and not all left-handers will be similar,” said said Akira Wiberg, Medical Research Council fellow at the University of Oxford, as reported by CNN.
