Even though under scrutiny, a $6.5 million donation to fund a research program at Harvard University will not be returned, according to university officials.
The registered sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, made the donation to the university back in 2003, and the University said in a recent statement that the funds have already been used up since then.
Epstein was accused of “sexually exploiting and abusing minor girls at his homes in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida between 2002 and 2005.”
Typically, institutions will both for moral and practical reasons reject donations from people or companies that don’t align with their mission and support their vision. Though Epstein’s donation was made several years ago, some argue that the University should return funds to take a stand against a man who is accused of abusing young women.
