The California Rural Education Network is lifting up rural education by connecting teachers, students and education leaders with each other and with specific resources for enhancing their education.
Leaders of the initiative point out that rural educators face unique challenges that are not found in urban school settings, and the resource center offers information on adverse childhood experiences or discusses issues surrounding teacher recruitment.
The online resource bank essentially offers articles covering important topics and professional development in rural education, in addition to hosting summits where students and teachers can share their stories.
The initiative is part of an attempt to help raise the voices of rural educators and students in the system who are affected by certain challenges that are unique to rural education, such as challenges in landing grants when schools serve fewer students.
