New Report Finds E-cigarettes can be Addictive, Pose Higher Risk of Smoking

According to a new report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine that analyzed a plethora of data and research on e-cigarettes, teens who use e-cigarettes are likely to end up trying regular cigarettes.

Anti-smoking groups argue that teens who use e-cigarettes are likely to be lured into using regular smoking devices more regularly.

The report also noted however that e-cigarettes can help regular smokers quit.

David Eaton, leader of the committee that reviewed the data, said “E-cigarettes cannot be simply categorized as either beneficial or harmful.”
