The Natural Resources Defense Council sued the EPA in a lawsuit of illegally removing a law that reduces the discharge of mercury from dental offices;
Natural Resources Defense Council said that the EPA removed the law after receiving orders from White House Chief of Staff soon after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, but due to a provision of the Clean Water Act, the rule should have not been removed.
The environmental group NRDC says the law would have reduced discharges of metals into sewage by more than 10 tons every year.
Mercury is hazardous and can harm human health through seafood.
