In a brief piece, Bill Nye – the renown scientist and engineer – wrote a letter addressing the issue of ‘climate change deniers.’
Nye highlights the very urgent need for politicians and presidential candidates to take global warming and climate change seriously, pointing out a number of indicators that ‘settle’ the science. He notes that the issue has been underestimated and even disregarded, despite the potential impacts it will have on our planet, as presented by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and US military.
Climate change is causing our oceans to warm and expand, which he notes studies show impacts agriculture, water supply and weather patterns. Millions of people will be displaced as a result of these changes. Carbon dioxide does in fact have an effect on planetary temperature, Nye posits, challenging arguments against the relevance of climate change.
