New York’s Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Services is teaming up with the Hometown Health Center Clinic to create a nonprofit pharmacy that will help Schenectady-area patients through access to on-site prescriptions and that will also benefit pharmacy students through on-the-ground experience. The new operation, named College Hometown Pharmacy, will be headed by a licensed pharmacist, but will also rely extensively on student support through paid positions, volunteer hours, and course-credit internships. A true rarity, the new collaboration will join the ranks of only three other nonprofit pharmacies in the nation.
