With the upcoming presidential election in the United States and two starkly different opinions on abortion on either side of the spectrum, the right for women to have abortions could be jepordized across the board.
Last year, “heartbeat bills” were adopted in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Mississippi, and were completely banned in Alabama.
Experts predict that though many states have been able to preserve that right for women, 2020 could be a pivotal year for the matter.
As it is, “A woman’s ability to exercise her right is already in dire straits,” writes The Guardian.
With so many clinics shutting down in many states, women are losing access to abortions and in many cases have had to travel hundreds of miles to access clinics that can legally offer abortions.
