A new study by researchers at universities in the United States and Europe found that people who are wealthy tend to live “disability-free lives” at least 9 years longer than people who are not wealthy.
Researchers analyzed data on more than 25,000 adults over the age of 50, and ultimately found that wealth was the biggest differentiating factor when it came to who lived a healthier life for more years.
“From the age of 50, the wealthiest men analyzed could expect another 31 healthy years of life — compared with the least well-off, who could only expect another 22 to 23 healthy years,” writes CNN, referencing the study.
The study found that poor women could expect about 24 years of health beyond the age of 50, while wealthy women could enjoy 33 years of good health.
