According to a new survey, the majority of business travelers who identify as LGBTQ tend to hide their gender identity or take extra steps to prevent people from knowing their gender identity in order to avoid being discriminated against.
The survey conducted by Wakefield Research found that 95 percent of the 8,000 LGBT business travelers surveyed from around the world often hide their sexual orientation and gender identity and also have changed accommodations due to feeling unsafe.
At least 77 percent of females said they have been mistreated or harassed while traveling for simply being women. And at least 33 percent of all survey participants didn’t feel safe traveling for business.
Overall, LGBT business travelers often have to take extra measures to protect themselves against discrimination for simply being who they are.
