A loss of funding will leave many families with small children without access to annual screenings and testing for diabetes.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases scaled back its funding for researchers who were able to provide screenings more freely to youth ages one to late teens, leaving families who relied on the tests to stay informed on the status of their children’s health wondering what to do next.
TrialNet is a research study, but many had come to rely on it for monitoring their children’s health, especially if they had a family history of diabetes.
