Workers at an art storage facility have been trying to unionize in order to obtain basic benefits through their jobs.
However, UOVO, the New York-based luxury art storage company, has refused to recognize the union and according to reports, was using “aggressive tactics against its workers” to discourage them.
Shortly after, New York State Senator Julia Salazar stepped up against the company to defend the workers and their rights to unionize and seek options that would help ensure they have a future after retirement, including a 401k.
“UOVO feels strongly that our employees deserve to know all the facts, and to weigh both points of view before voting for or against union representation,” said a company representative, as reported by the Observer.
