According to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the percentage of children who are insured dropped significantly from 2017 to 2018 due to fewer public programs supporting children.
NPR reports that for the second year in a row there has been a growth in the number of children that are uninsured.
Though some years ago, the goal was to get more children insured, experts report that the trend has reversed and now children are losing access to health coverage.
Economic and demographic trends were cited as the reasons behind the change.
