The Chicago Public Library received a $5 million grant from the MacArthur Foundation to create a branch at the Obama Presidential Center.
The grant will help to fund the construction of the library at the center and will house “multimedia collections, have community programs, a children’s area and offer space for reading and studying.”
The presidential center has yet to be built, but is expected to open by 2021, and the Chicago Public Library branch will be an essential element of the center that will provide the community with resources.
