A recent count of Los Angeles’ homeless population revealed that the number of veterans living on the streets has declined by 18 percent.
The June count revealed the important impact of organizations working to remove Veterans off the streets of Los Angeles and into accommodations.
The West Los Angeles VA Medical Center has been working to actively find homeless veterans and pair them up with housing opportunities, and additionally increased funding toward programs that provide 3-month emergency housing.
Though the problem is still dire in Los Angeles, veterans are finally starting to experience more support from local organizations that have recognized the need to help this vulnerable group within the homeless population which often faces mental health problems as well.
