Museums across the U.S. are finally stepping up and placing more female leadership at the highest positions that have traditionally been dominated by white male leadership.
Indeed the number of leaders across art museums is growing, but Director roles at the largest art museums in the country are still made up of mostly older, white males.
Museum board leadership continues to be 93% Caucasian and the majority are males over the age of 55, according to a recent survey, which also found that only 10 percent of museums have plans of action to correct the trajectory of their leadership makeup.
