According to a recent report from the United Health Foundation, there are still great health disparities between U.S. states.
After analyzing various health factors, the report concluded that the healthiest states are Hawaii, Vermont, Massachusetts, Utah and Connecticut.
Meanwhile, the states that ranked the lowest with more cases of obesity, disease, inactivity, and smoking among other factors, included Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
The last two named states were shown to have high rates smoking, obesity and children living in poverty.
Reducing smoking nationwide and taking steps to fight the opioid epidemic will be key to improving health across the nation, health officials say.
