According to a study published this week, women who use birth control pills are at greater risk of breast cancer.
The study examined more than 1.8 million Danish women over the period of ten years and found that hormone contraceptive use caused an additional 13 cases of breast cancer for every 100,000 women using birth control pills.
Previous studies have already proved this, but the new Danish study highlights the impact of current birth control pills on a large population.
The hormone progestin is believed to be the main culprit behind the increased number of breast cancer cases.
