Health experts at the American Heart Association issued new guidelines for high blood pressure earlier this week, which likely means more Americans will be at risk, according to new standards.
The number of men under the age of 45 that will be diagnosed with high blood pressure will triple for example, and the number of women who will be diagnosed will double, as reported by the New York Times.
Current patients might be instructed to increase dosages of treatments.
In the U.S., heart disease is the number one cause of death of Americans.
This new standard is the first revision made to guidelines on blood pressure since 2003.
