A new app invented for the iPhone helps visually impaired individuals better understand and grasp the world around them.
Seeing AI app, produced by Microsoft, uses the iPhone’s camera to describe people and objects surrounding the user.
Using face recognition software, the app informs users of a person’s proximity and his or her physical characteristics and facial expressions.
The app can also detect and scan barcodes, making shopping easier for its users.
While it is unknown if the Seeing AI app will be introduced on Android phones, Microsoft hopes the app will allow visually impaired individuals to lead more independent lives.
