Psychiatrists and psychotherapists have found a new way to treat patients by combining talk therapy with running.
Individually, each has been known to minimize anxiety and stress, but the combination has been adopted by therapists around the world as a new form of psychoanalytic therapy.
Sepideh Saremi, a psychotherapist who practices in Southern California, developed a “Run Walk Talk” practice and has seen improvements among patients who joined the specialized program.
“There’s definitely a bridge between running for fitness and running for mental health,” she explained.
The practice of running while engaging in talk therapy mirrors the number of changes mental health professionals have taken in order to engage and aid patients.
