Approximately two-thirds of nursing home residents rely on Medicaid funding, many of which are likely to suffer loss of care if the health care bill is passed.
The proposed health care bill would remove over $700 billion in funding from Medicaid, and according to the American Health Care Association, the typical loss of funding for any given nursing home would be “hundreds of thousands of dollars” annually.
A typical cost for a single person in a nursing home can run up to $80,000 per year — a cost so high, that most patients would not be able to afford it without the help of Medicaid, reported KCBX.
