Earlier this week, San Francisco arts officials announced that they will release plans to develop Treasure Island into a major cultural destination.
The San Francisco Arts Commission plan outlines initiatives to collect over $50 million in artwork over the span of 20 years, including an initial project for three major sculptures.
Future commissions will also include video art, plays, and the island chapel to be used as a theater.
The plan also details housing development on the island, to accommodate 25,000 residents.
