The American Writers Museum in Chicago is a new institution that honors the literary moments that shaped American literature.
The museum features exhibits dedicated to authors who helped to revolutionize the ways in which books are read and analyzed.
In particular, the American Writers Museum hopes to increase reading amongst children by featuring a room dedicated to authors such as Dr. Seuss and E.B. White.
While they were unable to attend the museum’s opening, a letter written by former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama was read at the festivities.
“The American Writers Museum will help make sure that some of the world’s greatest writing remains alive and accessible for generations to come,” the letter read.
