The Durham Audio Described Art (DADA) is developing a new way in which the blind can interpret and value art.
The program founded a public hotline in which individuals can hear descriptions of statues and other artwork located in the town of Durham, North Carolina.
Dan Ellison, a professor at nearby Duke University, has spearheaded the DADA project because he believes that art should be accessible to all.
Margareta Claesson is visually impaired and used DADA to receive touchable descriptions of different artwork in downtown Durham.
“Inviting you to come up and touch it and hold it, and that, especially for me, has become really important that I can touch things and smell them now,” she explained.
