Fentanyl, one of the strongest and most addictive painkillers, has led to a rapidly increasing number of overdoses in Columbus, Ohio.
According to a local coroner, Fentanyl has led to 55 fatalities in Columbus and Franklin County in the months of January and February.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says that Fentanyl is 25 to 50 times more powerful than heroin, and 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. It is oftentimes prescribed after surgery and is so addictive, that people have committed crimes to obtain more.
According to the most recent federal data, the drug overdose rate in Ohio was 29.9 per 100,000 people in 2015.
