While an increasing number of women are planning to run for office, it appears that politics are dominated by double standards.
In a recent study conducted by the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, voters in the 2016 presidential election appear to trust men more than women. The results showed that voters were most concerned about how mothers would juggle responsibilities of holding office and caring for their families.
Voters did not express the same concerns for fathers.
The voters who were interviewed for the study came from five cities, and an online survey of more than 1,000 people around the United States.
The results depicted a trend of skepticism towards mothers’ abilities to succeed as parents and as political figures.
