This past Wednesday, the Boston Globe issued a list of 9 nonprofit leaders “obsessed with making Boston better.” The issues they tackle and support range from food and fitness to minority social entrepreneurship and k-12 education. Among the leaders profiled are Liz Powers of ArtLifting, Sara Bartolino Krachman of Transforming Education, and Jen Faigel of CommonWealth Kitchen. The benefit corporation ArtLifting helps homeless and disabled artists sell their art, while the nonprofit Transforming Education promotes social and emotional skill development in k-12 students. The famous CommonWealth Kitchen, with alumni like Cake Pops Boston and Voltage Coffee & Art, assists food start-ups in advancing past their earliest stages of development.
