Colleges and schools will have to implement stricter regulations when it comes to handling cases of sexual assault, offering less credibility to the victims, under new rules proposed by Secretary of State, DeVos and her team.
Education institutions would have to adopt stricter definitions of misconduct and new standards for launching investigations, reports Politico.
“Victims would have to navigate changed requirements to file complaints, and alleged perpetrators may have an opportunity to challenge their accusers, through lawyers or advisers.”
“Men’s rights advocates” believe that men accused of misconduct aren’t treated fairly and the new rules would help “restore due process for accused offenders.”
