Philanthropist and billionaire David Rubenstein is investing millions into the nation’s historic sites, museums and culturally significant institutions.
“I get a lot of pleasure out of doing these things. And if I didn’t do them and I died with more money, would I be a happier person? I don’t think so,” says Rubenstein in an interview with NPR reporter.
Rubenstein says he intends on donating at least half of his money for organizations and institutions that serve a “good cause,” and calls his efforts “patriotic philanthropy”
More recently he announced a $10 million donation for the Jefferson Memorial, and previously has donated $3 million for the Washington Monument.
