According to new data, the UC schools enrolled a record number of in-state students in its schools for the fall of 2019, enrolling 185,559 in-state undergrads.
The schools have experienced a 10 percent increase in overall enrollment since 2015, but have experienced a decrease in the number of freshman and international students enrolling at the universities.
All of its schools except Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz increased the number of in-state students that enrolled in the fall.
LA Times reports that UC President Janet Napolitano said in a statement that the growing number of enrolled in-state students “means expanded opportunities for a new generation of young people. The University of California is looking forward to providing these talented, hardworking students a world-class education, while expanding access for future Californians.”
