Illegal Marijuana operations hiding in national forests are poisoning water and wildlife, according to investigators and researchers.
Such operations have been issues for many years, but are hard to find, with teams of illegal operators running in the deepest, hidden parts of forests, where brush and trees offer cover.
In the process, they kill off lands and wildlife as they integrate insecticides and poisons to fend off predators. Ecologists says the toxic chemicals would be dangerous to any living thing, and in some cases, are illegal to even have in the U.S.
Now, environmentalists, law enforcement agents, politicians, wildlife ecologists and representatives of the legal cannabis industry are coming together to try to discover and stop more of these operations before they can cause more damage, as reported by NPR.
