Admissions to top-tier universities dropped even more this year, according to newly released data from universities that just sent their acceptance letters to the next wave of incoming students for the graduating class of 2023.
Harvard, for example, admitted only 4.5% of its applicants this year, according to QZ. This trend was seen across all top universities, with the exception of Princeton and Cornell, which apparently had fewer applicants this year.
Other top universities that decreased their acceptance rates this year included Columbia, with a 5.1% acceptance rate; Yale, with a 5.9% acceptance rate; and Brown, with a 6.6.% acceptance rate.
Some universities have chosen to not place emphasis on their acceptance rates due to the fact that other universities use this a way to make themselves seem more exclusive and desirable.
