A new study reports that more than 850 million people in the world are affected by kidney disease, and the problem is becoming a global epidemic.
The growing epidemic poses several other health risks that most people are unaware of, say experts, including infections, heart problems and kidney failure.
More than 10 percent of men and 12 percent of women around the globe are affected by the disease, and more than 10 million people need a transplant that they are often not able to get because of high costs.
Additionally, it is not always identifiable by a patient right away because symptoms vary.
