A new government-run initiative is aiming to help Americans graduate college on time and help students prepare for their futures.
The program will collect data from students in order to help them understand their odds in graduating college on time.
While the information gathered can help students find the right college, many believe the new initiative will place undocumented immigrants at a disadvantage.
With the government taking control of data collection, many undocumented students are concerned they will be deported to their native countries without obtaining an education in the US.
“We’ve seen they’re not always trustworthy when it comes to the security of all this data,” said Michael Maharrey, spokesman for the Tenth Amendment Center, of governmental data collection policies.
