Reading requires patience and determination and also requires of the reader a certain level of contemplation and understanding in the process. Hundreds of studies have shown that reading helps children develop socially and emotionally and also helps them communicate better.
Reading helps children learn new languages, which improves communication and memory. Nevertheless, one quarter of American children don’t learn to read, which can ultimately affect them socially and intellectually.
Studies have shown that reading helps us develop emotional intelligence – that is, developing empathy and as a result making decisions that are more conscious of those around us.
