Education officials in Montana are creating a new policy to that would allow schools to raise students’ test scores.
Leaders of the Office of Public Instruction are asking for the change in order to improve the current state of many school districts.
The change would cause non-proficient students, such as those with learning disabilities, to improve their test scores.
The new plan, which is categorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act, could allow state officials to pinpoint struggling schools through administering standardized tests.
While the policy is not yet finalized, officials of the Office of Public Instruction are meeting with superintendents, teachers, and citizens to identify the needs of both schools and its students.
