A nonprofit organization is partnering with Vassar College to encourage war veterans to enroll in liberal arts programs.
The Posse Foundation aims to help under-served students enroll within elite schools and is teaming with Vassar to recruit veterans who constitute a small but growing portion of the college’s student body.
In addition to Vassar, other small liberal arts colleges are instituting programs to encourage veterans to obtain degrees.
According to a study conducted by the Democratic Staff of the Joint Economic Committee, nearly 1.7 million veterans are seeking college degrees in the post-9/11 era.
The inclusive and intimate nature of liberal arts colleges has allowed many veterans to not only obtain college degrees but to also thrive intellectually.
