According to a feminist scholar, the scientific philosophy of Sir Isaac Newton created an oppressive understanding of physics.
Whitney Stark argues that Newtonian physics is oppressive because it unfairly labels and categorizes individuals based on binary differences.
Instead of employing this hierarchical structure that causes minorities to be overshadowed by dominant groups, Stark calls for a “quantum feminisms” approach to making science all-encompassing.
Stark believes this tactic will change the fundamental ways in which science is learned and taught.
“Combining intersectionality and quantum physics can provide for differing perspectives on organizing practices long used by marginalized people, for enabling apparatuses that allow for new possibilities of safer spaces,” she explained.
