Applications from potential international graduate students coming from India, China and Iran have drastically dropped since Trump became President of the United States.
Cal State Long Beach reported that applications from students from India dropped by 42 percent and from Iran, dropped 24 percent.
Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside have experienced similar drops in applicants, while the UC system experienced a drop across the board on all campuses.
International students have requested information on violence against non-American students, and have expressed concerns over discrimination.
Students have allegedly asked university officials: “Should I finish my application? Is there any point in me planning to come?”
For some schools, especially Cal State Long Beach, the majority of graduate students have been international students in past years.
