A new omnibus environment legislation has been passed in Minnesota, which would appropriate more than $830 million and bring significant changes to the Environmental Quality Board. The bill aims to slow government spending while maintaining transparency.
Representative Dan Fabian sponsored the bill, saying, “I just want things to work in Minnesota, I want things to go smoothly. We like clean water, we like clean air, we like clean land.”
The bill is expected to modify the composition and limit the amount of authority of the Environmental Quality Board.
The number of citizen representatives will increase from five to eight, and the board will no longer have the authority to determine which of Minnesota’s environmental concerns will be considered.
