Museums will soon embrace app technology as a means of engaging with visitors, in efforts to create an interactive experience. The Brooklyn Museum in New York will soon debut its Android app that allows visitors and users to ask questions about art displays and receive live answers within seconds. In the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, an app allows visitors to essentially pin tabs of their favorite displays and build their “own collections.”
The emerging approach will not only create an interactive experience between the museum visitors and staff, but might also help draw valuable data for curators. Mobile app use will help museums market to target audiences in the future and perhaps provide valuable insight for visitor’s favorite exhibitions.
