New Micro-Loan Program from The IRC Helps Refugees Start Businesses

The International Rescue Committee recently launched a new micro-loan program aimed at helping refugees to “access credit affordably and move up the economic ladder,” reports the Wall Street Journal.

As the number of refugees increases globally due to ongoing conflict in Syria and elsewhere, these loans will be a significant help for those fortunate enough to be permanently resettled. To help these resettled populations make a fresh start, the IRC aims to have distributed at least $4 million in loans at about $6,500 per loan, by 2020.
