Motivated by the capacity of education to improve lives, high school student Arvind Chava from the D.C. area recently founded the nonprofit STEMWISE, which helps low-income students with after-school tutoring and online classes.
After his family immigrated from India to the United States, Chava witnessed firsthand the power of education in transforming livelihoods, leading him to become a tutor at an Alexandria community center. As demand grew, he called upon his peers to help expand their tutoring capacity at other community centers. He turned these efforts into the official organization STEMWISE just this year.
As parent and community praise testify, their after-school programs and numerous educational YouTube videos have made a tangible difference in the lives of students in the area.
