San Antonio Nonprofit Focuses on Supporting Battered Women and Children

After overcoming her personal struggles with domestic abuse, businesswoman Christy Prescott founded the nonprofit Christy’s Hope to support Family Violence Prevention Services, also known as the Battered Women and Children Shelter, in San Antonio. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $2.1 million- every dollar of which has gone to support the shelter.

Prescott expressed chagrin at the lack of a public dialogue around domestic violence; she hopes to see a day when “…fighting domestic violence is that first that for many people who want to make a positive difference.”
